Designing an Adaptive Layer for Learning Ecosystems
MyGooru Companion is an embedded, AI-powered personalization layer that lives inside existing LMS/LXP platforms. It guides learners in real time, equips instructors with just-in-time interventions, and turns engagement into strategic insight — without forcing anyone to switch platforms.
The Product
MyGooru positions itself as a “GPS for Learning.” Companion brings that navigation directly into partner platforms, ensuring learners get personalized pathways, contextual nudges, and answers that reflect where they are in their journey. It adapts content difficulty, sequencing, and intervention timing by continuously analyzing learner behavior.
The Problem
Learning platforms often deliver content but fail to guide progress. Learners get stuck or disengage. Instructors don’t see early signals until it’s too late. Leadership lacks a reliable view of what’s working across cohorts. The core challenge was to introduce AI-driven personalization without adding another tool or creating platform-switching fatigue.
What we aimed to solve
Embed personalization inside existing flows so users never feel “pulled out” of learning.
Increase course completion & retention through adaptive pathways and nudges.
Make engagement visible to instructors through interpretable dashboards.
Translate data into direction for institutional leadership.
Learner Experience
Companion appears contextually inside the learner’s course environment — not as a new platform, but as a natural extension of the learning flow. It provides:
Adaptive learning pathways that update as the learner progresses.
Context-sensitive nudges based on behavior and readiness.
Reflection summaries that reinforce understanding without breaking focus.
The design challenge here was subtlety: the Companion needed to guide without becoming noise.
Instructor Experience
Instructors don’t need more dashboards — they need the right signal at the right time. Companion aggregates learner engagement + performance and surfaces:
Who is struggling and why (early-risk signals).
Reflection quality + engagement trends.
Suggested interventions tied to the learner’s pathway.
I designed dashboards with tight hierarchy, quick scanning, and human-readable AI reasoning so instructors trust what they see.
Insights & Leadership
At the organizational layer, Companion turns daily micro-interactions into cohort-level insight:
Quantitative patterns (progress, completion, engagement).
Qualitative learning signals (reflection themes, confusion clusters).
Program-level health across classrooms or learning groups.
The goal wasn’t to overwhelm leaders with metrics — it was to show what’s changing, what’s stuck, and why.
